Some men gained fildena purple pill more than four points. Eroxon costs $20 per dose, which raises cost-benefit issues. Unlike the Viagra family of ED medications, Eroxon is available over the counter. It takes 30 to 60 minutes for the Viagra family of drugs to take effect. With Eroxon, it’s five to 10 minutes.
The most common side effects included: headache (8 percent of users), and nasal congestion (6 percent). So far, there is no information on how long Eroxon’s effect lasts. The manufacturer, Futura Medical of the U.K., says the gel “lasts long enough for successful intercourse in 65 percent of users.” That means it doesn’t allow intercourse in one-third of users. And among the 65 percent who can accomplish intercourse, some like it to last longer than others, but so far Eroxon’s duration of action remains unclear. Though FDA-approved, Eroxon is not yet available in the U.S. “FDA Approves Gel to Treat Erectile Dysfunction,” New York Times, June 27, 2023. “Efficacy and Safety of MED2005, a Topical Glyceryl Trinitrate Formulation, in the Treatment of Erectile Dysfunction: A Randomized Crossover Study,” Journal of Sexual Medicine (2018) 15:167.

You may have heard delayed ejaculation pills of a new erectile dysfunction therapy known as Eroxon (MED 3000) that the FDA recently approved for over-the-counter use. It is a topical gel marketed in Europe and the UK as a faster way to gain an erection versus Viagra or Cialis, and their generic forms sildenafil and tadalafil, respectively. However, while this sounds like a fantastic erectile dysfunction therapy, does it work? Before determining whether this particular gel works, we should discuss the history of topical erectile dysfunction gels and formulations. This very short discussion centers around the fact that we have tried to create topical versions of several medical therapies, including, for example, trimix, which is otherwise used as an injection into the penis, without any success – the simple fact is that, to date, we do not have a reliable therapy that functions topically. There have not been many studies performed in the United States that can show definitively that this gel will work; however, being that it has been used in Europe and the UK for some time now, we can expect that it may be effective for some patients. According to the manufacturer, the topical gel creates a warming sensation that stimulates penile tissue, allowing it to better engorge with blood.
| Gel Type | Calories per 100g | Protein (g) | Fat (g) | Carbohydrates (g) | Dietary Fiber (g) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gelatin | 80 | 8.0 | 0.2 | 0.0 | 0.0 |
| Agar-Agar | 30 | 0.5 | 0.0 | 7.0 | 4.0 |
| Pectin | 50 | 0.2 | 0.0 | 12.0 | 5.0 |
| Carrageenan | 50 | 0.0 | 0.0 | 12.0 | 0.0 |
However, this is not typically the primary cause of erectile dysfunction. Instead, most patients suffer from a lack of blood volume entering the penis in the first place (often caused by atherosclerosis). Therefore, even if the tissues were more receptive to blood, there’s likely not enough supply to create and maintain an erection. As with many other therapies, including supplements, it’s most likely that this gel is working on men with either very mild or early-stage ED, or those who have ED with psychological roots. In other words, it’s doubtful that this would work for anyone who would otherwise have to take a significant dose of Viagra, Cialis, or their respective generic version.
| Gel Type | Typical pH Range | Suitable Fruits/Fluids | Comments |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gelatin | 5.0 - 9.0 | Fruit juices, broth | Sensitive to acidity |
| Agar-Agar | 3.0 - 10.0 | Fruit juices, water | Stable across pH levels |
| Pectin | 2.0 - 4.0 | Citrus, apple juices | Needs acid for gelation |
| Carrageenan | 6.0 - 8.0 | Milk, water | Works over a broad pH range |
Of course, whether this gel can do something other products have failed to do over the years remains to be seen.
However, Amazon U.K. sells it (50 pounds, $62.50, plus international shipping). That’s for four doses of the drug. On the Amazon U.K. site, the 77 ratings average 2.1 out of 5, not exactly a ringing endorsement. That said, being it is FDA-approved for over-the-counter sale, it likely has a track record of some degree of safety.
Squeeze a pea-sized dot on your finger and apply to the head of your penis. Typically, your body will rapidly absorb the nitroglycerin. If enough time passes after application, the gel shouldn’t affect your partner. One of the benefits to nitroglycerin gel is that it works faster than ED treatments such as Viagra. However, it also doesn’t last very long in the body — usually only a few minutes.
If you keep applying it, it’s possible you could use excessive amounts. The problem is: Since there isn’t much research on how you can safely use it, it’s difficult to say how much is too much and what the side effects are from overuse. That’s why it’s important to talk with your doctor before applying topical nitroglycerin. Although some research points to the effectiveness of nitroglycerin gel or cream for improving the symptoms of ED, it’s currently not approved by the FDA as a treatment for ED. If you have ED or think you may have ED, it’s important to talk with a doctor about any treatment options.
They can talk with you about the range of options, including lifestyle modifications, counseling, oral agents, penis pumps, surgery, and implants. Posted July 2, 2023 Reviewed by Tyler Woods Topical, over-the-counter Eroxon gel may help some men with erection problems. The treatment works only for those with mild ED, and for them, not very well. It's been available in England for some time. Its rating on Amazon UK is just 2.1 out of 5—not very good. As with most relatively safe alternative therapies, we do not necessarily discourage their use if the patient understands that they may not work and, therefore, be a waste of money…and that they visit a reputable urologist or knowledgeable medical provider to discuss possible risks before starting any new therapy.
| Additive | Purpose | Effect on Gel Properties | Regulatory Status |

| Stabilizers | Enhance stability | Increased shelf life | Approved in small amounts |

On June 13, 2023, the Food and Drug Administration approved a topical gel, Eroxon, for fast-acting treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED). That’s good news for men who want erections and don’t respond to other medications. In addition, Eroxon is available over the counter, so no doctor visits. The main study that led to the FDA approval showed that it helps only about one-quarter of men with mild ED, and among them, not all that much. English researchers recruited 232 men who suffered ED of various severities.
They randomly received one of two treatments: Eroxon gel for four weeks, then following a one-week washout period, a placebo gel, or the placebo for a month, then a week later, Eroxon for a month (a double-blind crossover trial). Response was evaluated using the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF), a 30-point standard measure of erection firmness, with 26-30 meaning no ED, and 10 or less severe ED. At baseline, participants’ average IIEF score was 17, mild-to-moderate ED. By the end of the trial, 23 percent of the men showed at least a four-point increase in IIEF score. Those who responded noticed an effect within five to ten minutes after applying the gel.
The researchers concluded that Eroxon “could be a useful treatment option in ED.” Yes, possibly, but…. If you have ED, Eroxon might be worth a try. But it’s far from God’s gift to ED sufferers. It helped only one man in four, and worked only for mild ED. If those who responded started with an IIEF score of 17 and gained four points because of treatment, their post-treatment IIEF score was 21, heartening but still categorized as mild-to-moderate ED. In June, the FDA approved the over-the-counter sale of MED3000 (Eroxon), a topical gel treatment for ED. MED3000 is supplied in single-use tubes. The contents are rubbed onto the head of the penis immediately before sexual intercourse. The gel contains a combination of volatile solvents which, when applied to the head of the penis, evaporate rapidly, stimulating nerve endings through an initial cooling effect, followed by a warming sensation. This reaction releases nitric oxide, relaxing the smooth muscle tissue inside the penis and increasing blood flow that is needed to obtain an erection. Clinical trials found that 65% of men who used MED3000 achieved an erection within 10 minutes and maintained it long enough to have sex. Common prescription ED drugs like tadalafil (Cialis) and sildenafil (Viagra) take around 30 minutes to work. The common side effects of MED3000 were headaches and nausea, but these occurred in only 1% to 3% of men.
